9/11 cancer compensation through the VCF
Many types of cancer may be eligible for 9/11 cancer compensation when the claimant meets the applicable exposure, latency, certification, and VCF requirements. A WTC cancer lawyer can help you understand whether your diagnosis and exposure history may support a VCF cancer claim.
Cancer coverage and claim eligibility depend on the individual's exposure, diagnosis, latency period, and WTC Health Program certification.
Cancers that may be covered
Prostate cancer
One of the more commonly certified WTC-related cancers among responders and recovery workers.
Thyroid cancer
Thyroid cancers are listed among WTC-related conditions, subject to program requirements.
Lung and respiratory cancers
Includes cancers of the lung, trachea, bronchus, and other parts of the respiratory system.
Leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma
Blood and lymphoid cancers may be covered, with their own latency considerations.
Skin cancer and melanoma
Melanoma and certain other skin cancers are on the list of WTC-related cancers.
Breast cancer
Breast cancer may be covered for those who meet the exposure and certification requirements.

We identify whether enrollment or certification of your cancer is needed and help you through it.
- 03

We gather records and proof of presence, then prepare and submit your VCF cancer claim.
- 04
Pursue eligible compensation
We pursue the economic and noneconomic compensation you may be eligible for under VCF rules.
How certification connects to your VCF claim
The World Trade Center Health Program provides monitoring and treatment for 9/11-related conditions. When the program certifies that your cancer is WTC-related, that certification is generally what the VCF relies on to accept the condition in your claim.
The two programs are separate. The WTC Health Program handles medical care and certification; the VCF handles compensation. Many people need to work with both.
Our firm can help you understand the enrollment and certification process and what documentation may be needed. We cannot promise that a condition will be certified or that compensation will be awarded.
